Me and my dad on The Name of the Rose (book spoilers)

Me: "For me one of the best things about the book was, that at the end of the book, when they're are standing on the ashes of the burnt down monastery, friar William of Baskerville reveals to his novice Adso of Milk, that he actually doesn't believe in God (at least that's what I understood)."
Dad: "Did he? It's been 30 years since I read the book. I did think that Baskerville was awfully cynical."
Me: "Hm, I'd rather call him rational."
Dad: "Well, yea, that's kind of the same thing, no?"

For me, the best thing of the book was it's closing line: 'Stat rosa pristina nomine; nomina nuda tenemus.'
