Mailen is het nieuwe bellen geworden, voor mij. In de zin van dat ik het absoluut niet wil doen. Contacten verlopen via Messenger en WhatsApp. De gekozen kanalen zijn eigenlijk poortwachters. Wat per mail binnenkomt is voornamelijk semi-spam: maillijsten enzo waar ik me toch niet voor af wil melden. Over de app zou ik dat nooit accepteren. De kanalen zijn verder beperkt in bandbreedte voor informatie: je gaat een appje bijvoorbeeld niet opmaken (zelf let ik overigens wel streng op alinea's). Bizarre ontwikkelingen in de tijd van de informatie overload.

While I can list a lot of reasons why I shouldn't, I do like this Lil Pump song. I'll entertain everyone and myself by going into those shouldn'ts and whys a little bit. The beat is great. The synth is great and I love the 'prrts' in combination with the already cool sounding drums. The flow is great, to me. The most heard criticism of Pump and this song is that his repetition is lazy and stupid. In fact I found the original through this video, that mocks this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lry67t_wdhY I'm sure the repetition is lazy. But also I can't hear it as not innovative as well: every "Gucci Gang" sounds different to me (this remix is pretty good, to me not necessarily better than the original, and the variations on "Gucci Gang" don't make it better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eUDm2_ZSwc). Ik heb Pluche van Femke Halsema gelezen. Ik had dat even uitgesteld. Halsema is degene die me echt voor politiek heeft geïnteresseerd. Of eigenlijk was dat Fortuyn, maar zij was degene die me dan op positieve wijze heeft gestimuleerd. Pluche is een goed boek. Het is goed geschreven. Wel wat droogjes, maar er is genoeg politiek vuurwerk. Vóór Halsema had ik mijn ware politieke aard, links, nog niet helemaal gevonden. Toen ik op de middelbare school zat, in 1995, stemde ik in, naar ik meen, de eerste scholierenverkiezingen. Toen stemde ik GroenLinks. Ik ben daar stiekem een beetje trots op, want blijkbaar was ik vroeg wijs. GroenLinks bestond ook nog maar pas net, toen. Later werd ik dan minder wijs, want toen dacht ik: nee, GroenLinks is niet realistisch. Toen ging ik CDA stemmen, net als mijn ouders. Ik had ook niet zoveel met GroenLinks' Rosenmöller. Dat leek me een zeurende hippie. Ik heb nu netjes terug kunnen lezen waarom ik geïnteresseerd raakte in Halsema. Ik ...

So it's great how these songs from my youth now come up for me again and I can appreciate them even more. I've posted Sepultura's Refuse/Resist before, which is about the people taking the streets in protest. Now I'm posting Rage Against The Machine - Killing In the Name. The lyrics are so great. I used to think it is hyperbole to say: "so all those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses," but now Naomi Klein is explaining to me, in her book No is not enough, how racism is one of the tools the ones in power use to set up people against each other so they're too busy to revolt against the people pulling the strings. Another, more recent, example is how wages are kept to a minimum, so people are too busy trying to keep their head above water. All the answer needed to all this is just a resounding: "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!"

Soms vraag je je af of niemand je begrijpt. Als je bijvoorbeeld keer op keer zegt 'ik denk n iet dat je per se racistisch hoeft te zijn, om wel een racistisch systeem, in dit geval Zwarte Piet, in stand te helpen houden', en als je dan keer op keer dat verkeerde antwoord krijgt: 'ik weet niet wat je daarmee bedoelt en ik vind dat je niet iedereen racistisch moet noemen die het niet met je eens is'. Maar sommigen begrijpen je wel. Helaas vooral degenen die al helemaal aan jou kant staan. Helaas omdat je ook vooral die anderen wilt bereiken. Maar ik vond het toch fijn toen  Lennart  op gegeven moment precies wist uit te leggen wat mijn stanpunt was en dat hij mij kende als iemand die toch echt tot nuance in staat was, ondanks dat ik me nu misschien confronterend opstelde Maar één stukje toelichting dat Lennart gaf, wil ik toch nog nader op ingaan. Noodgedwongen heb ik mijn afgelopen klimaatweekend ook gebruikt voor geestelijk herstel. Ik heb de laatste tijd namelijk wat last gehad van wat overspannenheidsklachten. Overspannenheid komt vaker dan gemiddeld voor in de klimaatbeweging. Waarom is dat eigenlijk? Het thema van het klimaatweekend was klimaatrechtvaardigheid. Op zondag kwamen de Guardians of the Forest langs. De dag werd geopend met verscheidene openingsceremonies, zo dansten we op drums en stelde iedereen zich kort voor. Ook brachten we offers door iets op het vuur te gooien. Dat was symbolisch: we gooiden er een takje op en daarbij uitten we een wens.  Mijn wens luidde: "I welcome all feelings, Good and bad, There's a place for all of them" Ik was erg onder de indruk van mijn eigen wens. Ik had hem niet helemaal zelf verzonnen: afgezien van de formulering was het wat een meisje me de avond ervoor had gezegd. Great video essay by the lovely channel  Wisecrack  on what probably makes  Stranger Things  great. Little reveal: it's not really nostalgia. It's something way more deep and beautiful. (As I'm typing, I see season 2 is dropping in less than an hour. I won't be able to see it for a couple of days, though.) To go into the Wisecrack video a very little bit, spoilers for that, just watch it first, it's not long (information heavy, for sure): The video also mentions  South Park 's memberberries. The memberberries are designed to be very irritating characters, with success. South Park is completely on point with them, though: nostalgia is used terribly unimaginative in society now. It's more a dumb kind of fetish. So Strangers Things looks like a lot of nostalgia, and *is*, on the surface, but at the core it's about taking kids and kids' world view seriously.
